Semen Gresik Collaborates with Designer Bubah Alfian to Showcase Five Costumes at Prestigious Jember Fashion Carnaval 2023

Rembang, August 7, 2023 Semen Gresik again took part in the festivities of the famous festival Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) 2023, the theme of which was “Timelapse: Journey of the Earth”, which was held in Jember, East Java, from Aug. 4 to Aug. 6, 2023.

Semen Gresik collaborated with the JFC’s well-known fashion designer Bubah Alfian, who hails from Jember and has been active in the world of Indonesian fashion for years. Bubah applied the concept of upcycling and recycling cement sacks to five main costumes that combined black and red colors, the identity and the corporate colors of Semen Gresik’s products.

The JFC’s fashion designer, Bubah Alfian, was happy to collaborate with Semen Gresik. Bubah considered that creating works of fashion design did not require using up new materials, and that upcycling and recycling made it possible to rework a product into a new product with new functionalities without changing its original form or shape.

“[It is] the full support of Semen Gresik that gave us more energy to make more works out of cement sacks. Cement sacks of premium quality can be incorporated as the main component or as accessories,” Bubah Alfian explained in his press release (Aug. 7).

Bubah added that the JFC 2023 had successfully attracted the attention of thousands of spectators, dozens of models, and Jakartan influencers to liven up this prestigious event. The event had even invited celebrities such as Prilly Latuconsina, Yuki Kato, Jihan Almira, and Erika Carlina.

Bubah continued that he hoped the collaboration with Semen Gresik would make a positive impact by providing different fashion design references for JFC as well as other fashion events in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Brand Management of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (SIG), Irma Oktarini, stated that Semen Gresik, as an Indonesian local brand, had again taken part in supporting the renowned JFC 2023.

“Collaboration with the celebrated designer Bubah Alfian in the world of Indonesian creative fashion is the reflection of a strong spirit similar to Semen Gresik’s Super Tangguh yang ‘Kokoh Tak Tertandingi’ (Super Tough, Strong, and Unrivalled),” Irma stated.

Irma continued that at this year’s JFC, Semen Gresik aimed to inspire and have an economic impact. This was also intended to introduce various local cement products, one of which was of Semen Gresik which has been present among the people of Indonesia and has contributed to the construction of the country’s infrastructure.
